A little TOD's history- Diego Della Valle took over his family's shoe business in 1978 based in the Le Marche region of Italy. He designed a leather moccasin with a rubber sole and named the line J.P. TOD's. Interestingly, the name came of out a Boston, MA area phone book. As the name became popular world wide, he dropped the J.P. as people continually thought it was an actual person. TOD's added handbags to the line in 1997 but shoes still account for 70% of the business for the corporation. TOD's S.p.A. also owns Roger Vivier, a Parisian shoe brand, Hogan, a sneaker and handbag line, and Fay, a casual weekend clothing line. TOD's S.p.A. enjoys $450 million in annual sales and is one of the only top global designers that owns its own manufacturing facility and oversees the making of each item.
TOD's Authenticity Facts- The interior zippers are all silver-toned and are made by Lampo. The Lampo insignia is located under the zipper tab. The zipper pull is leather and has a 'T' embossed in it with ornate decoration on one side of the 'T'.
